WCK Muay Thai World Champion, Mike Lemaire
Last weekend, I had the honor of photographing the Current WCK Muay Thai World Champion, Mike Lemaire, who is also my training coach at Art of 8 Training Center in San Diego. Since Mike will be leaving soon to train in Holland for a few weeks before his next bout in New York for Glory 9 Kickboxing, we got together to update his Fighter Profile images.
As for lighting, I setup most of the shots quite similar to these boxing shots. However, this time I used a parabolic umbrella as my key light. I still kept the 2 kicker lights behind the subject in order to create the highlighted separation from the black background.

Weekend Warriors
Just this past weekend my friend organized a private group paintball event at Velocity Paintball Park, located in Ramona California. However, due a to a recent boxing hand injury I was unable to play. I don’t play much often anymore, but I still love this sport. Back in my college days, my older brother and I would play competitively in tournaments. I loved the rush you get playing competitive paintball!
Since I didn’t get to play this weekend, I did the next best thing. Brought my camera and shot the action. I focused most of my shots on my little brother, since he was making more of the aggressive forward movements up the field. Here are my 3 tips for photographing paintball:
- Always use a glass filter on your lens. This will protect your precious glass, and will make clean up a lot easier at the end of the day.
- Cover your camera body with a clear plastic bag. Cut a hole for your lens and cover the body. This will allow you keep your camera pointed at the action without having to worry about your body getting damaged from paint splatter.
- Anticipate the action. Know the rules and flow of the game. This will allow you to better position yourself to get the best action shots.
Here are just a small collection of photos I shot from our private paintball group event.

Paramount Studios Tour
Much Thanks to my “inside Hollywood” hookup for this photo adventure. She got us onto the Paramount Studios Lot with a tour around some of the live TV show sets and movie sets, such as Glee, Dr. Phil, and Community. Unfortunately Photography was not allowed inside any of the live TV show sets, but I snapped photos anywhere I could outside of the sets on the Paramount Lot. Nonetheless, I still had a fun time touring the studios and experiencing and seeing the production side of today’s TV shows and movies.

Ranch House Wedding
A few weeks ago, I assisted Chantal, Pasagraphy.com, with a mock wedding shoot at a local ranch house in San Diego. The weather turned out perfect for us, a little overcast of shadows with some moments sun peaking through. Please enjoy my collection of photos as the second shooter.
